Research

I am working with Dr. Hanna Salman to understand the mechanisms that influence behavior, growth, and memory of bacterial cells. We use fluorescence microscopy of nanofluidic devices to examine specific traits such as growth rate, expression level of proteins, and interior cellular concentration of a single bacterial cell as they change over time. Cells can then be exposed to certain stressors, allowing us to examine how they are able to adapt and to what extent these adaptations can be passed on and remembered by future generations of the original mother cell.
