PlaneWave Telescope Successfully Installed at Allegheny Observatory

The new 24-inch PlaneWave Telescope, which is now the fourth generation Keeler Memorial Telescope, was successfully installed at Allegheny Observatory on Thursday, August 25. A variety of observations were made with it on Saturday night, August 27. There are still some calibration tasks to be performed to get it working optimally, but it’s already exceeding expectations!

Special thanks to Shawn Artman and Bill Strang from the Machine Shop, who manufactured a steel adapter plate to mount the telescope on the existing circa-1906 pier to replace a crucial part that PlaneWave would not have been able to deliver in time.
