Pitt/CMU Colloquium: Pedro Machado (The Large Neutrino Collider)

April 4, 2022 - 3:30pm

The Large Neutrino Collider

In this colloquium, I will discuss exciting aspects of neutrino detectors using the liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) technology, such as DUNE, the future US flagship neutrino experiment. LArTPCs allow for very detailed reconstruction of neutrino events. I will discuss what opportunities LArTPCs will provide us, and what challenges should be overcome to enable leveraging these opportunities. In the course of the colloquium, I will describe several theoretical aspects and open questions in the standard model and in particular related to neutrinos.
