Title: When Neutrinos Encounter Nuclei
Abstract:
The experimental discovery of the last component of the nucleus and the theoretical prediction of the neutrino occurred within a few years of each other in the early decades of the last century.  Establishing the experimental study of the neutrino and subsequent advances in both the experimental and theoretical picture of the neutrino have been dependent on our understanding of the nucleus, they have progressed together.  Today, as we prepare to invest large amounts of funds, energy and time in neutrino experimentation,  the success of this venture will once more depend on the interplay of experimental neutrino physics and nuclear physics.
