Title: New Frontiers in the Hunt for Dark Matter

 

Abstract: Dark Matter is one of the most compelling cases for new physics — physics beyond the Standard Model. We learned of its existence and about its effects at large distances through astrophysical and cosmological measurements, yet there is still a huge amount about Dark Matter that we don’t know. In this talk I’ll go through the conventional ways Dark Matter is searched for, then discuss some new and exciting ways to explore regions traditional methods cannot reach. Some of these new directions involve simple modifications to existing experiments, while others involve using neutron stars as giant Dark Matter ‘detectors’.
