The Universe Through Her Eyes: Exploring Women's History in Astronomy

On Mach 29th, 2026, Women and Minorities in Physics, an organization comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, held a public outreach event at the Allegheny Observatory.  The event was titled "The Universe Through Her Eyes: Exploring Women's History in Astronomy" and focused on the work of women in astronomy throughout history and around the globe.  The event had demo stations featuring each woman and highlighting some aspect of their work. They also offered tours of the observatory and attempted to observe Jupiter and the Moon, but there were too many clouds.  Nearly 100 people registered to attend, and there was a wide range of attendees, from members of the department of Physics and Astronomy to people who had never even been to the observatory before.  Thanks to the amazing volunteers and the team at the Allegheny Observatory, this event was a success and people walked away with knowledge of some of the lesser-known women that have contributed to the field of astronomy.
